Haj Briefing 2006 / 1427 H Summerised

Details are found in MUIS's "Haji Mabrur Book" (given free to all pilgrims).

Haj environment = 2 mil people in one area.

Pilgrims
- need to abide by advise from Saudi and MUIS
- co-operate
- safe guard good image of Singapore pilgrims

Journey
- SIA or Saudi
- understand your itinery well (check with your travel agency)
- 9 hours journey
- advise to have enough rest

Arrival @ Jeddah
- get ready your documents (passport/bank draft)
- go thru immigration calmly
- keys to your luggage

Haj Operation Centre (MUIS)
- at Mecca and Madinah
- 24 hrs

MUIS Health Unit
- provide medical servises to all pilgrims
- Free medical services

Health
- see MUIS dr immediately when sickness occure
- bring MUIS Green Book (Medical Treatment Book)
- not to misuse, only for emergency

Before departure
- prepare things 2 wks advance
- walking exercise 3 - 5 km
- personal medication
- state allergy in MUIS Health (Green) Book
- prepare spiritually & acquire as much knowledge as possible

On board the plane
- stay calm and dzikir
- Don't be shy to go toilet ion-flight
- Don't use excessive water in toilet

- carry out ibadah that you have been taught
- Physical readiness prepare you
- Don't expose to heat
- eat more veg & fruits
- cleaniness at all time
- Don't leave your accomodation by yourself
- stay away from crowed place
- don't let stranger carry your bag
- avoid sitting / pray at the mosque door

Green book
- bring along all the time - Mina/Arafah
- bring when ever need treatment
- those with serious illness will send to nearrest hospital

Guideline in Arafah
- drink enough water prevent dehydration
- avoid outdoor 10 am - 4 pm (hottest)
- use umbrella

Amenties require in Arafah
- daily personal requirement
- Food and drinks
- spray bottle
-umbrella
- green book

Mina
- dusty & congested
- common illness (cough / cold / fever)
- worsen sickness from long travelling
- lost in crowed area

Transport
- ensure u r seated during the journey
- check for right bus

Health Tip
- drink 1 litre water everyday
- cold weather expected
- sufficient food intake to provide energy
- avoid food exposed too long or look unhygenic
- water supply not safe to drink
- protect your head with scarf (ladies)/ umbrella (men) when outdoor
- don't walk aimlessly when weather is hot

Common Illness
- Fever
- Dry cough / sore throat
- Flu
- Diarrhoea
- Muscle ache
- Nose bleed

If suffer illness
- see dr
- take dr advice
- enough sleep / rest
- do not bathe if you have chills (shiver in fever), will lead to high fever
- drink lots of water for high fever / diarrhoea
- consult dr if symptoms persist

Conditions need emergency treatment
- fall injury
- head injury / dizzy
- high fever
- drug / food allergy
- vomit / diarrhoea

Bring torchlight = no light at Arafah / go toilet
Sleeping bag provided
Bus Shuttle - follow schedule given
No service provide in Mudzalifah (no toilet)

Obligatory in Mina
- overnight stay
- stonning of Jamrah

Timing for stonning: 0001 hr - 0600 hr
